(International Forum on Language Issues in English-Medium Instruction)
"The International Forum on Language Issues in EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) Teaching, hosted by the Department of English, College of Liberal Arts, and Office of Bilingual Education Promotion at National Taiwan Normal University, will be held both in-person and online on April 22nd (Saturday) and April 23rd (Sunday) at the International Conference Hall (Room 202) of the College of Education, National Taiwan Normal University.
This forum invites renowned EMI experts and scholars from around the world, including Ernesto Macaro, John Airey, Robert Wilkinson, Amy B. M. Tsui, Do Coyle, and David Lasagabaster, to explore the use of language in EMI teaching in different contextual settings. Through various perspectives, the forum will analyze language application and propose relevant recommendations.
The two-day forum includes six keynote speeches, three research paper presentations, and one roundtable discussion. Topics covered include learning strategies, language and subject literacy, vocabulary teaching, classroom discourse analysis, language constraints and ethical considerations, the impact of language on the learning process, language challenges in reading English textbooks, multilingual thinking and action, and the use of questioning in EMI courses.
